Saturday, February 7th - Florida Week for the Animals - The 1st Annual Florida Week for the Animals is currently being planned for Feb. 7th-15th, 2009. Florida Week for the Animals is designed as a statewide celebration - a wide array of animal-related events taking place in towns and communities across FL, with each participant planning and hosting their own event.
Sunday, April 19th - EarthFest Event at Crandon Park from 11am to 8pm. The festival will amplify the positive message that each and every one of us has the power to bring about a more sustainable world through our everyday actions and personal choices. Friday, April 24th - Arbor Day The US national holiday is celebrated every year on the last Friday in April; it is a civic holiday in Nebraska and was founded by Julius Sterling Morton. Each state celebrates its own state holiday. The customary observance is to plant a tree. On the first Arbor Day, April 10, 1872, an estimated one million trees were planted. Today Arbor Day is overshadowed in the US by Earth Day.
